A New National Holiday

Ah, my favorite time of year. The grass starts to green. The trees begin to flower. I begin to sneeze like crazy….
It’s baseball season. When I rule the world, the first Monday in April will be a national day of celebration. Everybody will be off work and every team will play an afternoon game. It’s a day of renewing hopes. Even Cubs fans won’t start saying “wait ’til next year” until Saturday.
It’s Opening Day (last night didn’t count even though I live in St. Louis). I’m in the wrong business to take the day off, but there’s nothing better I’d like to do than to watch Bull Durham, Major League, and Field of Dreams leading up to the first game. Then watch baseball all day long. It would be a perfect day.
We need a national day of celebration and I think Opening Day should be it. Now, I just have to work on becoming Supreme Leader to make it all happen…
