I swear if this TVGuide dude is messing with me there will be Hell to pay. Michael Ausiello is reporting that his sources have said that Scrubs will be picked up for a 7th and final season. It will be a shortened 18 ep season, but 18 eps are better than none.
In an earlier post he is also reporting that Friday Night Lights, which turned out to be my favorite new show of the season, has also been picked up. FNL has a full season order. FNL had huge viewer retention and critical acclaim, which must have been what saved the show (and what has kept Scrubs on for 6 seasons despite at least 12 timeslot changes). NBC just couldn’t get anybody to watch the show. Though putting it up against Dancing with the Stars and then American Idol couldn’t have helped.
Since these were the only two that I watch that were on the bubble, I’m extremely happy. I knew that Studio 60 wasn’t coming back, but the show was a big disappointment for me. It might have not survived long enough to really get going (SportsNight didn’t hit its stride until the second half of season one), but I just never really fell for the show despite my Sorkin fanboyness. The Office wasn’t in trouble this year, and any others I watch are on cable (Robin Hood on the Beeb is my current love).
Good news for a Saturday morning!
