One of my favorite pastimes in college was tuning into CNBC (or CNNFN, remember that?) on random days to see what the reasons were that they were giving for the markets move that day. It was usually some intelligent sounding garbage about this or that, but they always had a reason. Of course, they had [...]
As a parent, this story in the Chicago Sun-Times just absolutely broke my heart. The paper interviewed a 10 year old that was walking with his best friend when the friend (also 10) was shot several times by warring gang members further down the block. The kid wasn’t the target, but it appears that he [...]
If you haven’t shopped Amazon.com in a while you may be pleasantly surprised. They’ve rolled out a redesign of the website that brings the site into the 21st Century design-wise.

You’ll have to create a login to use it, but you can use it for free on a limited basis or pay $49 to have control over the logo.

This couple are nutcases from New Hampshire that decided that the Federal government couldn’t tax their incomes and stopped paying taxes for a decade. The holed up in their compound (it really was a compound) with Federal marshals outside waiting to take them [...]
Okay, Spectator. If you were out to scare me, you’ve done it. The money quote from an article on a secretive Israeli airstrike on Syria.
If people had known how close we came to world war three that day there’d have been mass panic. Never mind the floods or foot-and-mouth — Gordon really would have been [...]
50 years ago today that noise terrified the West like no other and led to a push that ended with the first man landing on the moon.
NPR had a fascinating story on my way to work that the Soviets had no idea that Sputnik (translates to “satellite”) would be a big deal and that it [...]
Dear Congress,
I know that you’re busy coming up with things that will never become law and generally chasing your tail, but could you do something about the AMT? At this point, I literally have no idea what I am going to owe for the year and it’s October 2nd. It’s literally keeping me from taking [...]
