I wasn’t able to watch the GOP YouTube/CNN debate last night and from the reactions and new stories I’m glad I didn’t. It sounds like CNN cleaned up the videos so that no snowmen or other characters showed up like in the Democratic debate. I can’t help but wonder if that was a requirement for doing the debate? If it is, it shows that the GOP has no sense of humor about itself.

Anyway, it seemed like everyone was a loser last night as the “debate” turned into catfighting about who loved illegal immigrants and torture the most. One comment on the WaPo’s Fix blog cracked me up.

The most revealing moment of the night came after the debate, when they interviewed the undecided Republicans they had gathered to watch the debate. None of the undecideds were persuaded to vote for a particular candidate, except for one woman who said after watching the debate she would most likely vote for John Edwards.

As I’ve said before, I haven’t made up my mind yet on any of the 19 candidates I might want to support (it makes me sad that Kucinich is no longer pro-life as that made my decision fairly easy in the past). I like Obama’s passion, but he’s too far left. I like Romney’s executive experience and I may have considered voting for the Massachusetts Romney, but the Presidential Romney can’t make a decision. I want to like Reverend Huckabee (most of all for his self-effacing humor and what he did while Governor of Arkansas) but he’s too far right on a lot of issues and the corruption issues concern me.

And when will Ron Paul realize he is there just to be the butt of the jokes on stage and as an easy mark for the other candidates? It’s been three or four debates in a row where he has made one of the other candidates look really good during a back-and-forth tussle. I applaud his Quixotian quest (like I said I’ve voted for Kucinich twice) but he’s either got to learn when to shut up or stay off the stage. Making the other candidates look good won’t help his election chances.

You didn’t see the debate, so you shouldn’t comment. Relying on the biased media is another mistake. I did watch the whole, entire debate and I couldn’t believe how the media reported on it. There were no cat fights! Things were taken out of context by the media. As usual. That’s because they (media) favors Hillary and the dems.

I found the debate to be intelligent and the candidates were discussing very relative and important subjects. Those boys are serious! Not like the tomfoolery of the democrats. What a difference from the republican and democrat debates. I’d choose the republicans anytime. Rudy was the best, smartest, well spoken, well versed and intelligent candidate out of all of them! He has my vote.

Watch before you comment. Do NOT ever rely on the media or word of mouth.

    Harry,

First, I deleted your other comment. Opinions are okay, personal attacks are not cool.

Second, you’re not getting anywhere with the biased media attacks. You do realize that those that started the attacks have admitted that it was simply to get the media to give them favorable coverage to “prove” that they weren’t biased.

I’m not enamored at all with Guilani. We’ve been through eight years of an authoritarian and I’d like someone that respects the separation of powers for the next four. Guilani showed while he was mayor that he thought he was the king of New York and no one could get in his way. When he considered declaring marital law to stop an election that he couldn’t run in I think it showed a lot about his character.

On top of that, I have a real problem with his morality. It’s funny that the GOP was up in arms about Clinton and then run to defend Rudy’s behavior in office. Not only did he cheat on his wife, but he held a press conference to announce he was divorcing her before even telling her privately. That disgusts me. The fact that he also played with the budget to hide the fact he was having an affair (listen to his non-denials about the Politico story) really reinforces my point in the previous paragpraph.

I’ve sinced checked out some of the “highlights” of the debate and it reinforces my view that I didn’t miss much. Link me to something that shows the intelligence, importance, and relativity you saw in the debates. I want something other than practiced lines that have been fully vetted before focus groups. I want something real.

    Kirk,
My 2nd comment did not have any foul language in it. Just please note that the gay, retired armed service person who queried the candidates was planted there by Hillary Clinton.

Do you really think that Guiliani’s wife knew nothing about their upcoming divorce? Do you think maybe the woman was playing the ‘poor me’ category? Just like Hillary does?

Nothing disgusts ME more than Bill Clinton, Monica Lewinsky and cigars. And the silence of Hillary Clinton.

I’m glad that Guiliani has remarried and is happy. There is no reason why, just for the sake of public opinion, a person should be stuck in a loveless or disgraceful marriage. John F. Kennedy blatantly displayed to all of the world his shameless, illicit affair with Marilyn Monroe. My heart will always be with Jacqueline and what she silently had to endure. As did Princess Diana regarding Charles and Carmella Bowles.

In other words, MOST of political candidates are just human beings.

My only suggestion is for you to look at the republican debates and then the Democratic debates with an open mind. There definitly is a difference between the two parties. You have to decide which party you want to represent you.

I’d personally, want a republican. Just my opinion. Your bog is open to opinion. I have thus shared mine.

    Thank you.

I appreciate your comments. You referred to Hillary as a b***h in the second comment, that’s why it was deleted.

I don’t know who I am voting for. I’m far too socially liberal for the GOP but pro-life and fiscally conservative, which doesn’t play with the Democrats. No one has impressed yet. I’m still looking for a candidate and probably will be come November.

I don’t get the difference between Hillary and Jackie and Rudy’s second wife, but I’ll never get the hatred that conservatives have for her any more than I’ll get the blind hatred that liberals have for Bush (though I understand the Cheney hatey, that man’s just pure evil).

He shouldn’t be stuck in a loveless marriage but announcing it to the world before telling her was crappy as was cheating in the first place. I have zero tolerance for people that cheat on their spouses rather than telling them upfront (and no, I was never cheated on). Divorce is one thing, cheating is a whole ‘nother.

    Thanks for reading.
