The Wall Street Journal has a harrowing account of the terror attacks in Mumbai (Bombay) last week. Exceeding well written and researched.
My heart goes out to everyone affected. I can’t imagine a similar scene here, but I’m sorry to say we probably won’t have to imagine it at some point.
The New York Times had a big story over the weekend about young Evangelicals in St. Louis not being pre-programmed robots for the Republican party. I have no idea what placement it had in the paper, but it was the 10th most e-mailed story yesterday online (I can imagine readers of the Times shock and [...]
Kevin,
I’ll put it in terms you’ll definitely understand. The Protestants have a bit of marketing problem. The Catholics offer copious amounts of booze and a good time. Protestants offer marching through Catholic neighborhoods and getting shot at. I think we definitely have the advantage on that one.

This was the theme of our sermon on Sunday. Our congregation is currently at a crossroads. The last minister was forced out resigned because of opposition to his teachings and the more liberal bent thereof. Several of his last sermons focused on opening our hearts to others outside of the congregation and becoming the shining [...]
People often ask me how I can be both a Christian and a Democrat (generally). The Republicans have done such a good job selling the GOP as “God’s Own Party” (as one member put it) and the Democrats have done such a good job of running from anything with God in it that it almost [...]
